E' morto il 1 Luglio per cancro all'esofago: oltre che nei Whitesnake, aveva suonato anche nei Trapeze, Finders Keepers, Phenomena e con Glenn Hughes (per Play Me Out) e Cozy Powell (lo troviamo nel disco Octopuss).

Fu anche sfortunato, perche' nel 1984 in Germania era con i Whitesnake ed ebbe un incidente ad un braccio che venne curato male e l ocostrinse ad interrompere l'attivita' live. David Coverdale sulla BBC si concede ad un ricordo dell'amico scomparso.
Anzi ne fa quasi un tributo, dicendo che...treasures the memory of knowing him and working together with him...
Anche il suo manager Tony Perry ha parlato di lui come di un superbo musicista ed un vero amico.
